It's my party and I'll cry if I want to!
Happy Birthday to ME!! That's right I turned 26. What's funny is I vividly remember as a child thinking okay I'll meet my future husband when I'm like 22, get married at 24, and if we want kids I'll have my first kid at 26... HA!! Wow was I wrong, I met Ryan when I was 17, got married at 19 and had my third kid by 25. Life is never what you think it is going to be, but sometimes it's is so much better! My Birthday however... was not that way...
My Birthday started off good enough, since Ryan was gone for the weekend at Camp Chaffee, it was just me and the kids for 72 hours... of course the night before we don't go to bed until 1am.. but luckily I got to sleep in until 7am. The morning honestly started out pretty good. The kids were getting along, I even messaged Ryan and let him know that things were going well.. around 9am the kids started fighting, spilled juice at breakfast, dumped cereal bowl on the table, floor, and chair. Then spilled juice on the floor. Cleaned it all up, got dressed and ready for the day (a day of staying home of course... I'm not crazy enough to take these three crazies out by myself, I need to keep some sanity!) We are all playing in the living room and I get up to go to the bathroom. Max takes it upon himself to run to the laundry room, dumps out a load of clean clothes that I left in a basket saying I'll fold and put those away later... ugh thanks past Summer! He goes into the food pantry and gets a few cans of coke, brings it all back to the living room and is stacking the cans on top of each other on top of the basket on the couch. I come out just in time to see this, my first thought is, wow, that is pretty impressive, he has those stacked up pretty high.... as I'm thinking this, the cans fall.... one explodes the second it hits the floor!!!
I'm talking sugar-free cherry coke all over my living room! I don't even like Coke! My rug is soaked! We had blankets and pillows still on the floor from our fort the night before, they are soaked! My baseboards, walls, and entertainment center are sprayed with coke. It's all a mess! The kids and I get it all cleaned up, get a load of laundry started, wipe off my walls, mop up the floor, etc... moving on with my day.
By now the kids are ready for their 10:30 snack. I start getting their snack ready and I remember that we hadn't taken our vitamins yet... so I open up my Iron pill bottle, and Maddison and Max come running in yelling about their vitamins, so I put my bottle down on the counter and get theirs and Maddison comes running across the wet floor and bust her butt. I go to help comfort her and Max get my pills off the counter and starts eating one!!!! I'm yelling at him to stop, and spit it out! He now realizes that this taste horrible and starts crying about how gross it is, I'm trying to get him water to wash out his mouth, and this child sticks his fingers down his throat and throws up all over himself and the kitchen floor. If you know me at all you know I hate everything related to throw up! The smell, the look, the sound. The sound of someone gagging can make me throw up so having to deal with vomit is so hard for me. I am crying trying to fight my bodies natural urge to vomit right now!
I start some bath water, and it is important to mention that baths and water are pretty much Oliver's favorite thing.. well right after me of course. While I'm getting Max undressed, Oliver goes to climb into the tub... now Oliver is still small and is learning how to climb on things so he has tried multiple times to climb in the tub with no success, his little leg just can't get up high enough.... until today of course while I'm distracted with Max vomit. Oliver falls in head first, clothes and diaper still on. I run over and save him, get him undressed, and bathe both boys. If you have kids, especially boys, you know that it is never that easy! They are both splashing like crazy and I feel like I'm trying to wash cats, but also it's like Shamu the whale splashing back into the ocean and me and my bathroom are soaked. Get them out and we all get new outfits!
Now that that's done, I have to go back to the kitchen and clean up the vomit. I go get the mop and clean up the kitchen and go dump the water outside, hope my plants don't die. Now I remember that I need to get the clothes washed and that I need to change out the coke covered blanket because they should be done washing by now. Go to the laundry room and find a spider! Usually we catch them and release them outside in the garden so "they can protect our house" (Maddison) but today, I just killed it. I ain't got time for all that catch and release stuff right now! Then I go to move the clothes and Max was with me pushing buttons on the washer... it says it still has 36 minutes left to wash.. I think ohhh Max must have reset something and has it ready to start some other cycle, I open the door and grab something and it is soaked!!! There is water all in the bottom. I close it and try to start it... won't start. I try to cancel the wash... won't cancel, won't reset, nothing! My washer is broken! I pressed/held every button on that thing and it won't change. I give up, sit on the floor, think about crying, but then one of the kids start yelling that they want food.
It's finally 12! I make the kids and myself lunch, we eat, and I put on a show for Maddison and Max to watch while I go nurse Oliver and put him down for a nap. I come out and get Max set up for his nap and he's out soon enough. Maddison and I play for a bit and she ask to play on her ipad and I say yeah... I'm going to take a bath since it's been 3 days! At least one kid has been awake until around midnight, and the boys are on different nap schedules so I havn't had time to shower and I kinda stink if we are being honest. I get my water started, got my soap, got my towel laid out, shut my water off and start to take off my soaks and what do I hear... Oliver crying! I go get Oliver and Maddison offers to play with him in her room while I take my bath. (Isn't she the best!) I get in my bath and hear a small crash... then Maddison yelling, whyyyy Oliver!!!! Get off of me, help me up! Help me up Oliver!!! Then nothing..... Next thing I know in walks Maddison carrying Oliver (who is more than half her size, he's big for his age and shes little for hers). Que Oliver freaking out and trying to get in my bath, luckily our tub is tall and he can't get in. Now I have to get out and get dressed while fighting Oliver off of my legs.
The next few hours were a normal amount of crazy just waiting for Ryan to get released and drive the two hours back home. That's how I spent my 26th Birthday! :) All in all it was a pretty okay day. Definitely a memorable birthday. Even though it was crazy and at times I wanted to cry and pull out my hair it is all just a reminder of how blessed I am. Yes my kids made one mess after another but I have three beautiful, healthy, happy kids. I have a nice house that keeps us safe and cool. I have dirty dishes because we have food to eat. I have clean clothes again because my amazing husband was able to fix our washer. I had a long list of people that reached out to wish me a happy birthday and tell me that they love me. I'm truly blessed and grateful for all the love and support that I have.
Tell me about your craziest or most memorable birthday in the comments!
