Telestrations Upside Down

If there is one thing that our family loves, it's a good game night! One of our favorite gaming companies is The OP Games. They make lots of family friendly and fun games. One of my all time favorites from The OP Games is call Telestrations. It's a fun take on the game telephone, but you sketch stuff out. For those who don't know.. I'm an amazing artist.. amazingly bad artist. Even so this game always leaves us laughing and playing "one more round"

When I got an email from Tryazon asking if I wanted to host a game night for a new OP Games game called Telestrations Upside Drawn, it was an easy YES!

Players use only a pen and board in a race to be the first team to sketch and guess the secret word.

Players divide into teams of 2 or 3, each team gets a dry-erase board and marker, pick which color side of the card to use. Each team has a guide, someone who controls the board and knows the secret word, and a guesser(s) who controls the pen and does the sketching.

Roll the dice to find out which one of 6 categories you will be drawing from, Person, Place, Thing, Action, Phrase, or Wild. Only through up and down directives can the team put the pen and board together to guess the clue first.

Each team is sketching the same word and shouting guesses at the same time. You can use icons on the side of the board to help your guesser (hot, cold, sounds like, broader scope, narrower scope). You can also listen to the other teams guesses, and use symbols and arrows. No looking at the other teams board or writing letters or numbers. Each word is worth the points shown in the circle on the card, first team to 20 points wins!

I love it when games can be adjusted to fit the flexibility of who I'm playing with and this is definitely one of those. Telestrations Upside Drawn is easily modified to allow younger ones to play along. You can also easily adjust the length of game play, you can play a quick round or two, increase the point number to win, or not even keep score and just play until your face and sides hurt too much from laughing.

While it is a simple concept on how to play it can be a bit tricky to get the hang of it and is harder than it looks, so try not to criticize your teammate until you've had your turn doing both sides of the game. (sorry again Ryan!😂)

We made a fun night out of it by starting our creative juices flowing with personal pizzas where we used our toppings to create pictures on our pizzas, and we made special telestrations upside mocktails (3oz Polar Blue Hawaiian punch, 2oz white cranberry juice, and a splash of 7up).

The best part of making any dough is when you get to punch it down!
